Arriva London has offered Payroll Giving since 1993, supporting a range of charitable causes close to their employees’ hearts. Since 2012, however, take up of the scheme had dropped, so they were keen to look for new ideas to reinvigorate it.

With the aid of a Professional Fundraising Organisation, Arriva London launched a large-scale promotional campaign resulting in over 200 new donors signing up in just four months. Caroline Ward, People & Change Manager, said “Using our new communication portal that carries business news as well as employee reward offers, we designed a bespoke web page that allows staff a quick and easy way to sign up online. With the addition of an Arriva-commissioned promotional video, showing on the portal and across our LCDs in our 14 locations, we’ve been able to sign-up over 200 new donors in just four months. The impact these donors will have on the charitable causes that they support cannot be underestimated and we’re delighted to have now been awarded a Gold Payroll Giving Quality Mark in recognition of this.”

To celebrate their success, Arriva London used the Lord Mayor’s Show to showcase their efforts by promoting Payroll Giving on their open-top bus and offering places to some of their donors. In November 2014, they were big winners at the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards, scooping both “Best Large Employer Campaign” and “Best Overall Campaign”. There are plans for further promotions to capitalise on this success and drive growth of their impressive scheme.
