Payroll Giving was introduced over 15 years ago within the company and as a result of the continued growth of their Payroll Giving scheme, Translink have received the Payroll Giving Gold Quality Mark for 2014. Due to the varying nature of their employees’ jobs, for example, drivers, call centres, mechanics, railway staff, cleaners and their varying shift patterns, they utilised the services of StC Payroll Giving to optimise knowledge and uptake of the scheme. Translink have staff in over 100 varying locations, therefore, a range of promotional activities were utilised, such as, walkabouts, canteen promotions, informative talks through team meetings, intranet links, QR codes, an iPad app, a telephone and email helpline. These activities have helped them to increase their employee uptake by 29% in the last year alone and increase their annual revenue to charities by a further 40% raising over £45,000 a year.
They believe that consistent promotion is essential to keep growing the scheme, as has been proven in their results over the years. Translink were shortlisted for the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards 2014 in the Government and Public Sector section.
Billy Gilpin, Employee Relations Manager said, “Translink is part of the community and as such we are involved in a range of initiatives to promote, protect and enhance the wellbeing of our staff, passengers and society as a whole. By embracing Payroll Giving we support many local charities that our employees care about which is also a great way to engage with our staff. We are delighted that through our partnership with StC Payroll Giving we have over 17% of staff donating over £45,000 a year to their chosen charities.”
