Payroll Giving MOU – changes to charity statements take effect from October 1st

Following the Government consultation on Payroll Giving, the Government facilitated a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Payroll Giving Agencies, The Institute of Fundraising and the Payroll Giving Special Interest Group.

The agreement has been created to increase transparency and clarity in information-sharing between the government, charities and Payroll Giving Agencies.

One of the outcomes of the MoU was a change to the format of charity dispersal statements, creating a standardised report. This means that the forms agencies use to communicate information about donors to charities will conform to an agreed template.

This has been adopted by all Payroll Giving Agencies and will take effect from today, 1st October 2015.

Mervi Slade, Payroll Giving Manager at Save the Children and chair of the IoF’s Payroll Giving Special Interest Group, said the standardised disbursement report would reduce administration costs for charities and potentially provide them with more information about their supporters. “In turn, this will allow charities to communicate more meaningfully and effectively with their supporters,” she said.
